Congratulations to General Chairman Danny Tavares on his retirement after 37 years of railroad service and dedicated union leadership.
Danny began his career with Amtrak in November 1989 as a machinist apprentice. Over the years, he served the membership in numerous leadership roles, including Local Chairman, President of Local 318, District 19 EAP Director, member of the IAM Critical Incident Response Team, and General Chairman.
More than the positions he held, Danny will be remembered as an authentic union leader who never forgot where he came from or who he represented. He listened, spoke honestly, and was always there when members needed him. Enjoy your retirement, Danny you earned it!
