There’s been a lot of talk about inflation lately. And rightfully so.

In the United States and globally, things are costing more. And for almost everyone, our wages aren’t keeping up with the cost of gas, food, housing and more.

But thanks to your solidarity and the strength of IAM District Lodge 19, you could be one of the few people in America whose wages keep up, and actually exceed, inflation, if this agreement is ratified.

Let’s take a look at the numbers.

From July 2020 through July 2022, inflation increased 16.1%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Your tentative agreement, including general wage increases and bonus improvements, totals 17.8% over the same period.

That means that your combined general wage increases plus bonus payments are actually 1.7% ABOVE inflation—during a period of rising costs that we haven’t seen in a generation!

If this agreement is ratified, you will be a part of the very few American workers whose wages are keeping pace with record inflation. In fact, your wages and bonuses will exceed inflation!

Again, your Negotiating Committee unanimously recommends a “yes” vote to ratify our new, improved Tentative Agreement, which includes unprecedented wage increases, healthcare improvements and a path forward to fix overtime once and for all.
