On August 11, 2023, Congressman Sean Casten, Illinois 6th District, visited the Belt Railroad Shop in Chicago IL. District 19 Local Lodge 478 President Mike Lemon had the opportunity to introduce the Congressman to some of our Machinists on duty in the shop that day. They discussed the Railway Safety Act, lack of manpower, sick days, and the importance of thorough inspections given the climate of what happened with the derailment in Ohio. Congressman Casten committed his full support on all these issues. The IAMAW appreciates Congressman Casten taking the time to visit our members and hear our concerns.
