Strong Contracts Need Strong Enforcement!
When CPKC brought contractors onto the property to perform work on Roadway Machines, IAM Local 112 Roadway Mechanics took action. Members documented the violations and worked with District 19 to enforce their agreement.
As a result, claims were filed and resolved without the need for arbitration. A total of $4,761 was paid to IAM Local 112 members for work that should have remained within the bargaining unit. This is contract enforcement in action.
A special thanks to General Chairman Kenny Krause for his work in securing these successful claims. We have seen an increase in carriers attempting to contract out work across the industry. If you see contractors performing work that may belong to the bargaining unit, document it and contact your General Chairman immediately.
